As a leading manufacturer of custom padding solutions, we frequently receive inquiries for our fire-rated padding, particularly for transforming unused rooms in educational settings into calming rooms or safe spaces. As many of us now know, these environments are a great way to provide a secure, supportive area where students can de-escalate and regain composure in a protected setting.
Our Protector Two series meets stringent Class A ratings for flame spread and smoke development (per standards like ASTM E-84), making it ideal for schools, healthcare facilities, and other facilities where fire safety is paramount.
Creating a fully padded safe room requires expertise, precision, and collaboration. In this project, like many others, the school reached out to us with a need to create a dedicated safe space for a student experiencing behavioral challenges and sensory overload. After chatting with key stakeholders from the school, we brought in one of our experienced dealers in the area to arrange an on-site visit to assess the room thoroughly.

Once on-site, our partners at King Carpentry took detailed measurements of walls, doors, corners, and any other features requiring coverage. By accounting for every detail to ensure proper fit, seamless integration, and maximum safety, we prepared a comprehensive quotation for the supply and installation of the required padding.
Once approved, our engineering team got to work producing a complete set of shop drawings for the school’s review and feedback. After final approval, production kicked off at our facility before getting shipped off to meet our partners in southern Ontario. From there, the entire installation was handled by our trusted partners at King Carpentry, who executed a flawless final installation, ensuring everything fits perfectly and functions as intended.
The staff at this Ontario school were extremely pleased with the outcome. The newly created safe room provides a calm, secure environment that supports student well-being while meeting all necessary safety standards.
If your school or facility is considering a calming room, safe space, or padded environment, we’d love to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team to explore our fire-rated options. Together, we can build safer, more supportive spaces.
